With over 37.000 employees La Poste/De Post is the largest employer in Belgium.

For a number of years La Poste/De Post has been preparing for the total liberalisation of the postal market which will take place at the beginning of 2011.
Its objective is to be in the leading group of European postal operators. La Poste/De Post intends to maintain its leading position on the liberalised market, in offering its clients the best quality-price ratio.
To meet this challenge, numerous changes have been made, and are still taking place, in order to modernise all areas of activity throughout the company. La Poste/De Post is also working on developing an integrated "multi-channel" approach, in order to permit our clients to find the most convenient way to be in contact with the company; via the Post Office, Post Points, shops, stamp machines, eShop, or the local postman. To stimulate sales, La Poste/De Post launches new innovative and competitive products and services.

ICT has of course played a large part in the modernisation and dynamics of this company. Since 2001 ICT has made significant investments in java technology. The evolution from relatively simple web applications for data retrieval/update to complex and robust implementations has been enormous. This has resulted in over 50 jee applications to date, many of them supporting business-critical processes (primarily in the area of mail logistics and retail). Today, about 150 java software engineers continue to deepen their expertise in building state-of-the-art applications.
